Compare the 12oz and 16oz frank green bottles with straw lids. Learn which straw size fits each bottle and how to choose the right combination for your hydration needs.
Quick answer
The 12oz and 16oz frank green bottles use different straw lengths. The 12oz bottle requires a 98mm straw, while the 16oz bottle uses a longer straw (not listed separately but typically around 120mm). Always match the straw to the bottle height to ensure proper fit and function.
Understanding Straw Lengths for Each Bottle
frank green offers two distinct straw lengths to match their bottle sizes. The 12oz/355ml Ceramic Reusable Bottle uses a 98mm straw (Straw 12oz/355ml - 98mm). This shorter straw is designed for the compact bottle height and works with the Straw Lid to provide easy sipping without excessive length. The 16oz/475ml Ceramic Bottle with Straw Lid, on the other hand, requires a longer straw to reach the bottom of the taller bottle. While the 16oz straw length isn't explicitly listed in the catalog, the 98mm straw is clearly intended only for the 12oz size.
Using the wrong straw length can lead to poor performance. A straw that's too short won't reach the liquid at the bottom, leaving you unable to finish your drink. A straw that's too long may protrude awkwardly from the lid or cause the lid to not seal properly. Always check the product specifications to ensure you order the correct replacement or spare straw for your bottle.
Material and Build Differences
Both the 12oz and 16oz bottles share the same ceramic-lined interior and triple-wall vacuum insulation, ensuring pure taste and temperature retention. The key difference lies in capacity and physical dimensions. The 12oz bottle is ideal for smaller servings like iced lattes or herbal teas, while the 16oz bottle suits all-day hydration with a larger volume. The straws themselves are made from food-grade 304 stainless steel, are dishwasher safe, and are easy to clean, so maintenance is identical regardless of size.
Tradeoffs at a glance
- Capacity vs Portability: The 12oz bottle is more portable and fits smaller bags, while the 16oz holds more liquid but is slightly bulkier. Choose 12oz for on-the-go sips; 16oz for longer hydration sessions.
- Straw Length Compatibility: The 98mm straw only fits the 12oz bottle. The 16oz bottle requires a longer straw, which is not interchangeable. Always verify straw length before purchasing a spare or replacement.
- Temperature Retention: Both bottles feature triple-wall vacuum insulation and ceramic lining, so temperature performance is identical. No tradeoff here — both keep drinks hot or cold equally well.
